OpenAI has identified India as the largest market for its newly launched Images 2.0 model. The model was released just weeks ago, and the company has reported a significant uptake among Indian users, who are leveraging its capabilities for various creative and cultural purposes. According to a report by Mint, OpenAI has noted that Indian users are increasingly using the model for imaginative applications beyond basic photo editing.
The usage trends highlight a move towards more expressive and culturally relevant content, particularly among younger demographics. OpenAI indicated that users are engaging with the model not solely for functional tasks but as part of a broader internet culture. This cultural shift emphasises self-expression and exploration of aesthetics, diverging from traditional workplace or productivity-focused applications.
Several key trends have emerged among Indian users of Images 2.0. These include:

In response to growing competition from Google’s Gemini Nano Banana model, which offers faster processing and improved features, OpenAI introduced an Images 1.5 model. Despite these efforts, it did not achieve the same level of popularity or effectiveness as its competitor. Images 2.0, however, boasts advanced reasoning capabilities that improve the way the model interprets commands and utilises real-time data to enhance image creation results.
