Dheeraj Dhoopar addresses Kangana Ranaut’s criticism about his presence on Lock Upp, sharing insights from his reality television journey.
Dheeraj Dhoopar experienced a setback in the latest episode of the reality show ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’, facing eviction after a challenge from fellow contestant Yogesh Rawat. In an exclusive interview following his removal, Dhoopar discussed his time on the show and responded to comments made by Kangana Ranaut during her initial appearance as a ‘Janta ki Awaaz’ (voice of the public). Ranaut had critiqued Dhoopar, stating, ‘You’re calling yourself Shah Rukh Khan. You don’t even have the ‘S’ of Shah Rukh Khan… You don’t have the main character energy at all.’ She accused him of not being assertive enough in the game.
In response, Dhoopar expressed that he disagreed with her assessment. He stated, ‘In the first week when she said that I lack main character energy, I want to clarify that it’s not something that can be displayed; it is something people perceive when you walk into a room.’ He further elaborated on the significance of self-perception, saying that he had been awarded the title of ‘Shah Rukh Khan of Television’ not by himself but by his fans. ‘I always think, if Shah Rukh Khan were in this house, would he engage in conflict? I believe the answer is no,’ he remarked.
Hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, ‘Lock Upp’ features several contestants, including Ram Kapoor, Shreya Kalra, Shilpa Shinde and Shivangi Joshi. The show streams on Netflix from Saturday to Thursday, culminating in a grand finale where the winner will be awarded ₹1 crore in prize money.
