England’s women’s cricket team gears up for the T20 World Cup after a series win over New Zealand, eyeing a tougher challenge against India.
The England women’s cricket team is focusing on the upcoming T20 World Cup following a successful series against New Zealand. Their recent win includes a commanding 7-0 streak in bilateral T20 matches against the White Ferns, culminating in a 2-1 series victory. With the World Cup set to commence at Edgbaston on June 12 against Sri Lanka, England’s attention now shifts to a critical three-match series against India.
England achieved significant wins over New Zealand, highlighted by two seven-wicket victories, with a narrow defeat in between. The captaincy of Charlie Dean has been a positive highlight, particularly in light of the absence of Nat Sciver-Brunt due to a calf injury. Dean’s leadership has drawn praise, with Nasser Hussain from Sky Sports noting her strength and suitability for the role.
The team hopes to welcome Sciver-Brunt back in time for the World Cup, as her absence would be felt strongly given her extensive T20 International experience, boasting over 2,000 runs.
