The Ambani family celebrated Krishna Janmashtami earlier this week at their luxurious residence, Antilia, in Mumbai. The festivities included prayers, music, and dance, captured in a video shared widely on social media.
Family members donned traditional attire, with the venue adorned in elaborate decorations featuring white and pink flowers, along with an idol of Lord Krishna. Among those present were Radhika Merchant, Shloka Mehta, and siblings Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani, who actively participated in the celebrations.
Radhika Merchant was seen joyfully dancing alongside family members and children, with Isha also engaging in the festivities. Additionally, Anant Ambani and Akash Ambani joined in the dance, entertaining the younger family members.
Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries, participated in the rituals wearing a traditional kurta and jacket. His wife, Nita Ambani, appeared in a blue saree complemented by traditional jewellery as she moved through the beautifully decorated space. Both were spotted dancing with children, further enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.
The family engaged in various rituals, including offering prayers with folded hands and floral garlands to the decorated Krishna idol. A key tradition of Janmashtami is the ceremonial swinging of the idol, which family members participated in, underlining the devotion associated with the occasion.
Janmashtami, celebrated widely across India, marks the birth of the Hindu deity Lord Krishna. The festival is observed with a range of rituals that include fasting, singing devotional songs, and attending temple services. Homes are often embellished with flowers and colourful patterns known as rangoli, while the following day features the Dahi Handi celebration. This involves groups forming human pyramids to break a clay pot filled with curd, simulating an incident from Krishna’s childhood.
