Jackie Mah appointed new council member of Climate Governance Malaysia

Climate Governance Malaysia (CGM), an organisation dedicated to strengthening corporate climate leadership in Malaysia, has welcomed Jackie Mah as a new council member.

Mah is currently the president and chief executive officer of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM), a role she has held since August last year. At ICDM, she leads the execution of the Directors Development Framework, aimed at strengthening environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices across Malaysian corporations.

“From my experience, while many boards have established foundational structures to oversee sustainability, there remains an urgent need to bring directors up to speed,” Mah said in a LinkedIn post by CGM last week.

“Joining Climate Governance Malaysia reflects my continued commitment to strengthening board leadership in addressing climate and governance challenges,” she said.

CGM is the Malaysian chapter of the World Economic Forum’s Chapter Zero Alliance, previously known as the Climate Governance Initiative. It introduced a new governance structure a year ago, introducing a non-executive board let by palm oil industry veteran Henry Barlow.

The organisation’s council, led by climate policy expert Dr Gary Theseira, serves as CGM’s “operational backbone” while the independent, non-executive board provides robust oversight.

Prior to joining ICDM, Mah served as chief financial officer of the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation, where she led global initiatives spanning finance, strategy, technology, and organisational development.

She is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), serving as a member of MIA’s Integrated Reporting Committee.
